Eurofurence 29: VRChat in Real Life & Sensory Overload

From September 3rd to 7th, 2025, the time had come: My very first furry convention – and to be honest, my first convention ever! Together with Ruderfrosch, Splashii and Gastro, I plunged into the adventure of Eurofurence 29.

Our grand master plan for this weekend: We'd set up basecamp in Bremen, and I'd be the designated driver for daily routing to Hamburg. But the real madness awaited me in Hamburg. Until this weekend, I'd only known the furry fandom as a digital entity from VRChat. Suddenly, all these avatars weren't in a virtual world anymore, but right in front of me in full hardware resolution and 3D. It was a massive sensory overload in the absolute best sense! Complete sensory overload.

Besides the classic fursuits, there were also completely new community patches that I hadn't even been aware of before – from the puppy community to a whole lot of latex stuff. It was extremely fascinating to discover a completely new world and finally see in real life everything you usually only experience behind a VR headset.
